Experience:

Grand Cayman

With increased tourism to Grand Cayman island came high SCUBA diving traffic, increasingly frequent cruise ships that lack a permanent mooring, and a landfill approaching capacity. Bill Browning and Jean-Michel Cousteau were asked by the Grand Cayman governing body to establish environmental stewardship and resource management standards for the 76 square-mile island and its surrounding coral reefs. Using both economic and environmental terms to build a case for sustainability, and aligning utility, governmental, and business interests toward the goal of sustainability, the recommendations were well received by the Government, and are reflected in their current environmental policies.
