Experience:

The Canyons

The Canyons is a 3,500 acre site that will consist of over 1,500 homes and a 500 acre preserve. Located south of Denver, Colorado, the surrounding landscape has been substantially impacted by human presence. Situated on former agricultural land, the site suffered substantial over-grazing and erosion, which was later exacerbated by runoff from neighboring residential developments. To address strategies for stormwater, wastewater, energy, and landscape/ecology, Terrapin participated in a workshop that identified high-performance standards for the development. In addition to reducing the project’s environmental impact, these strategies will guide the development in restorative landscaping, sensitive building siting, and habitat creation. Detailed Terrapin Case Studies are available in the Workroom, our private extranet full of detailed information and resources to help you make an informed decision.
